The Student Assistance Program, which is sponsored by the Caron Foundation, uses a systematic process by which school personnel can determine students who are having problems and refer them for help.  The center of the program is a Student Assistance Core Team, which is composed of a group of school personnel and a Student Assistance Coordinator who is assigned to Berks Catholic by the Caron Foundation.  This coordinator is trained to assess at-risk students and refer them for help. Students come to SAP in different ways.  Any student who violates the school's substance abuse policy or shows signs of mental health problems are automatically referred to the team.  Others are referred by teachers and other school personnel.  Parents and friends may also refer a student to the SAP program and this referral form may be found at the Berks Catholic Homepage under the Parents portal.  Completed forms may be dropped off at the Main Office.
