The Berks Catholic Student Government hosted 55 student leaders for a Student Government Leadership Summit  on Friday, September 18^th. The Leadership Summit was held at the St. Christopher Catholic Newman Center on the campus of Kutztown University. Joining BC were representatives from Allentown Central Catholic, Bethlehem Catholic, Marian Catholic, Nativity BVM and Notre Dame High Schools.

The student leaders heard an inspiring keynote address from Judge Eleni Dimitriou Geishauser (Holy Name ‘88) on the topic of faith and leadership. Judge Geishauser encouraged students to hold on to their moral compass as they take on leadership roles. Encouraging them to find their group in life, she shared how her friends in law school helped her maintain and strengthen her own faith even in the face of challenges.

Students also heard from Fr. Kuna, BC Chaplain, who echoed Judge Geishauser’s advice of staying true to their morals and faith. He encouraged the student leaders to be role models for those in their schools. After an opportunity to brainstorm and share ideas with each other, the student leaders ended the day with Mass celebrated by Bishop Schlert. In his homily, Bishop Schlert called on the students to be humble servants and to see leadership as an opportunity to serve others.
